my reflection–4.07

This monday, the teacher give a lecture about how to evaluat. On the class, teacher introuduced many evaluation ways, such as T or F, essay, and so on.Then the teacher gave a detaily introuduction about mutiple chioce question .I learnt how to make a good MCQ and how to test if a MCQ is a good MCQ.MCQ has its own advantages, but it cannot evaluat a students’High Order Thinking Skill. The best way to test a students’HOTS is to use subjective, such as essay.

weekly reflection-03.31

Today, our group did our presentation. But I didn’t think DR.Kamisah liked it. She said, there’s no activity in our presentation. our group topic is “sign language”. We try our best to use the thinking skills. And we think how to use these thinking skills better.

There is a difference between China and Malaysia. In China, when a teacher gives a speach, she/he doesn’t put any activities in. Because the teachers in China think that 40min is not enough for teaching one lesson. So they only teach the knowledge.

But when I study education in Malaysia, I find that no matter which subjects’ presentation DR. will ask us to put an activity in.

I know,it is better than only teaching. But actually to think some activities for a presentation is very hard for me.This time,we did not play activity. We just wanted to use some skills to teach.

No matter what the reasult is. I trust that our group really do our best to prepare the presentation.

weekly reflection-03.23

I had DR.Kamisah’s class today morning.

She asked us to do our presentation about thinking skills in education. My group didn’t do our presentation. Because we were not sure that we did right. After several groups did their presentation. I think I get some idears.

How to use thinking skills in education? It is not a simple question. At first, I think it is just a way that help the teachers to think about how to teach. Teachers use skills to teach their students , let their students learn easier. But, after I watched my classmates’ presentation. I found I was wrong. Thinking skills in education is not a way to help the teacher for teaching, it is also can help students to learn. My classmats use thinking skills to tell their students how to read, how to tell which music is blues, classical or something else. I think they are good. They already use thinking skills in education.

So, I need to discuss with my group members again. And we also need to modification our presetation. I hope that we can give a nice presentation next time.

This year, may. We will have a practise for teaching. I will be a real teacher in may. But that depends that I can pass my Pedagogy Curriculum. ^_^

If you are a teacher, you must do something that’s like a teacher. First, you should wear some formal cloth.

I know it is serious in Malaysia. A teacher can not dress some things very random. It is different from China. In China, the teachers can wear every cloth which they like.

Now, I need do my practise here. So I should follow the rules. That is why I buy some new cloth for myslef.

HaHa. Just paste the picture which I want to show my friends.

Myslef  Do I look like a teacher?  (press the picture. you can see a bigger one ^0^)

My favourite song

Indonesian students need to make some essential adaptations in order to succeed academically in Australian universities. These adaptations are not just about English proficiency but differences in academic culture.

There are more issues to address about our study in Australia universities beside our continuous effort to upgrade our English to a stage where we may be said to be competent users of English for academic purposes.

Australian universities, as part of the Anglo-Saxon university system, demand students, among other things, be able to exercise critical thinking, which is believed to be the most distinctive feature of the differences between the non-Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-Saxon universities.

Universities in Australia have made critical thinking a focus in various bridging programs especially provided for international students. While it is expected that the explicit teaching of critical thinking and the acknowledging of our previous learning experiences may optimally upgrade Indonesian students’ study skills, it may also make some of us feel inferior.

Many of us may feel reluctant to actively get involved in discussions and debates not because we are afraid of using English but because we are not accustomed to the culture of discussion and debate in Australian universities. The fact that we are more familiar with memorizing tasks than the analyzing ones in our past studies can hinder inquiry and advocacy tasks in good discussions and debates. Continue Reading »
